Jo is a Qualified Trichologist

Jo qualified as a Trichologist in 2019 after studying for 2 years.

A Trichologist is a trained professional who has undergone specialised training to understand the structure and function of the hair and scalp, and the diseases and disorders associated with them. A Trichologist also has a good understanding of general anatomy and physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics and nutrition.

Jo works with and strongly recommends the Philip Kingsley Trichocare range which is available in the salon.

How can a trichologist help?
A trichologist can help and advise with many forms of hair loss, hair thinning, alopecia and hair health issues. This can include:

• Androgenetic alopecia (male/female pattern hair loss)
• Telogen effluvium
• Alopecia areata
• Alopecia Totalis/Universallis
• Traction alopecia
• Trichotillomania/Trichotillosis
• Cicatricial (scaring) alopecia
• Poor Hair quality
• Hair shaft disorders

A trichologist is also trained to recognise and offer advice/referral for the management of various scalp disorders, including:

• Dandruff (Pityriasis capitis)
• Seborrheic dermatitis

Jo has over 20 years experience in offering a wig cutting service.

She offers her expertise in choosing the wig and cut and colour and helping with the fitting and of course cutting the wig to suit your face shape.

My New Hair

My New Hair is a charity founded by Trevor Sorbie MBE that provides advice to a network of independent salons who offer a wig styling service for people suffering from cancer and medical hair loss.

Jo appeared on The Mustard Show, a nightly magazine show on Mustard TV in Norfolk, to talk about My New Hair and her involvement with the scheme.
